Janet Fraser Royle died peacefully surrounded by loved ones in New London, New Hampshire at the age of 81 on July 15th, 2025. Janet was born on February 28, 1944 in New York City, New York to James and Janet Fraser. She graduated from Geneva College with a degree in Speech and received her masters degree from Northeastern University in the field of Speech and Language Pathology. In 1965, she married David Wyman Royle from Lexington, Massachusetts and they were married for sixty wonderful years. After moving to New London, New Hampshire in 1969, Janet began working for the Kearsarge Regional School District as a speech and language pathologist.
Janet’s whole world was her family; Gretchen Royle Evans and husband Russell Evans of Brookline, Massachusetts and Ingrid Royle Maclean and husband Matthew Maclean of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Janet’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her three grandchildren, Grace Royle Maclean, William Burr Maclean and Charles Fraser Evans. She never passed up an opportunity to play a game, loved traveling with friends and family, and was deeply connected to her community in New London. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of New London, New Hampshire where she served as a youth group leader and deacon, volunteered as a docent at the New London Historical Society, was an active member of the Hilltop Place book club and donated much of her time at the local food pantry.
A celebration of her life is scheduled on August 16th at 11:00 A.M. at The First Baptist Church of New London, New Hampshire with a reception to follow in Cleveland Hall. She wanted her life to be honored by having celebrants wear bright and happy colors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Heidelberg Lodge #92/Charitable Fund, PO Box 823, New London, NH 03257.
