Elizabeth (Betsy) Healy Shelby (1938-2025)

Elizabeth (Betsy) Healy Shelby, 86, of Georges Mills, NH, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 after an enduring battle with Alzheimer’s with her loving husband, Gerry, by her side. 

Born on October 3, 1938, and raised in Montclair, New Jersey, Betsy attended Hood College in Frederick, MD, and graduated from Lasell College in Chestnut Hill, MA.

After graduation, she began her career with New York Telephone (NYNEX), the same firm in which her father worked. 

Betsy summered in Harwichport since childhood, and it was there that she met Gerry. They were instantly inseparable. They married and raised their family in Shrewsbury, MA. A vocal and enthusiastic youth sports supporter, she never missed her sons’ football, baseball or hockey games or her daughter’s crew races. She herself enjoyed softball and tennis and would participate in every school-sponsored event she could.  

She treasured her family and is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Gerry, her children and their spouses David and Gayle, Drew and Jen, Jenn and Andy, and her grandchildren Mikaela and her husband Ryan, Tyler, Christopher, Zachary and his fiancée Elena, Healy, and Shelby. 

As she might say in the words of her beloved Winnie the Pooh “The most important thing is, even if we are apart, I’ll always be with you”.
